Welcome
to North Carolina Theatre Arts Educators
We are theatre arts educators K – 12 in the state of North
Carolina, a 501c(3) non-profit organization founded by and for teachers.
We believe everybody teaches and everybody learns. We believe that
theatre arts teachers K-12 are stronger together than alone. This
organization is the sum of its members and everybody is a leader.
We have three elected officers and everyone else is a vice-president.
Really.
We work in five star point teams.
Professional Enrichment plans our two annual events: Fall Sharing
a teaching/learning professional learning community (In a day and
a half, there is plenty of time for teachers to teach teachers AND
for us to share ideas, plans, hopes, and dreams for us and our students.)
and Winter Focus an in-depth learning/rejuvenation professional learning
community (From Friday night through Sunday noon, we participate
in renewal and intensive workshops taught by professional theatre
artists.)
Playworks Project comprises nine-part initiative hosting playwriting showcases
and offering training for teachers and playwrights to teach students
playwriting.
Membership Communication coordinates
the website, member contacts, and NCTAE logo merchandise.
Development grows the
endowment for the Scarborough Scholarship and the artists' fees for
teacher training.
Advocacy supports the success of theatre arts education K-12 in North Carolina
and the nation.
At the end of every NCTAE event we gather and make a list of words
that describe the experience. Afterward, we ask if this is what we
want/need to be doing. If yes, we continue. If we were ever to get
a no, we would rework or discontinue the event. Join us! We look
forward to involving every theatre arts educator K-12 in North Carolina!

Todd Ford, Secretary

And all the Vice Presidents—all the other members! Really. |
